Traditional Reflexology dates back to ancient China and Egypt back in 2330 BC. Modern Therapeutic Reflexology stems from “Zone Therapy,” and is credited to Dr. William Fitzgerald in the beginning of the 1900’s. He discovered the body is split into zones, and is fully mirrored in the hands, feet, and ears. Many people live in a constant state of, “'fight or flight.” which can tax the tissues and organs causing a constant flood of stress hormones being pumped into the body. Therapeutic Reflexology helps to calm the nervous system, metabolize extra stress hormone in the body, flush the lymphatic system, and relax the body by administering a stimulating massage sequence to the complete surface of the hands or feet. During a session specific tissue & organs are focused on to relieve physical symptoms or injured areas of the body. This intention is applied through the hands or feet to help energize and fortify neurological connection to the brain. Energetically, the Chakra system can also be worked during a reflexology session. Specific tissues, organs, and systems are energized, neurological connectivity is fortified through this therapeutic technique. It can be beneficial for individuals who may be experiencing the beginning of decreased neurological connection in the legs and feet because it aids in reestablishing connection from the body to the brain communicates. Although it is safe to administer during pregnancy, it is not advisable to administer to individuals who may have nerve damage.
