Hey there, amazing people. 💖 If life feels heavy right now, let me share something that’s been a lifeline for me: the Law of Attraction and mindfulness. These practices aren’t just buzzwords—they can truly transform your life, especially when you’re facing what seems like impossible odds. I leaned on them this past year during one of the hardest times in my life. My life was impacted drastically when my 11-year-old son, Niko, began battling a life-threatening illness.


As a single mom and small business owner, the weight of that journey was immense. Balancing the demands of running a business while being Niko’s primary caregiver was overwhelming. There were moments when I felt completely stretched thin, trying to keep everything afloat while grappling with the fear and pain of helplessly watching my baby boy suffer.

This failure left him severely immunocompromised, vulnerable to infections, and dependent on almost daily blood and platelet transfusions just to survive.


The fear was overwhelming, especially when we learned there was no donor match for him in the global bone marrow registry. Niko’s background is predominantly Hispanic and Greek, a combination that’s less common in the donor pool. While most non-minority ethnicities can have dozens, even hundreds, of potential matches globally, Niko had zero. This made finding a match even more challenging and highlighted a critical need: the registry desperately needs more ethnically diverse donors. But I refused to let despair win. I clung to hope, visualizing Niko’s recovery, imagining a future where we were home, healthy, and happy. Those visions became my anchor during the darkest days.


How to Hold on to Hope:

  1. Focus on What Matters: In the midst of fear, I focused on Niko’s recovery, refusing to dwell on “what ifs.” That vision became my lifeline.

  2. Visualize with Your Heart: I spent nights by his hospital bed, visualizing him running, laughing, and being a kid again. I poured all my love into those images.

  3. Stay Close to Positivity: I surrounded myself with anything that brought light—a kind word, Niko’s smile, a prayer. Those small moments kept me going.


Mindfulness: Finding Peace in the Chaos

Mindfulness became my sanctuary during the storm. It’s about being fully present, even when the moment is filled with fear and uncertainty. 🧘‍♀️


Living full-time at Lurie Children’s Hospital for nearly 10 months was incredibly tough. The staff was wonderful, but the reality was harsh—the constant beeping machines, the sterile smells, the fear every time a doctor walked in. Mindfulness helped me find peace in that chaos. Focusing on my breath, staying present, and appreciating small moments of joy—like when Niko made the nurses laugh with his silly, mischievous personality by hiding their stethoscopes when they weren’t looking—became my refuge.


One moment that will forever stay with me was just before Niko was put under anesthesia for radiation treatment. As they wheeled him down the hall, his doctors blasted Guns N' Roses in the operating/treatment room. And there was Niko, dancing in his hospital bed, completely in the moment, fearless and full of life. That’s the power of being present—finding joy even in the scariest times.


How to Find Peace in the Chaos:

  1. Stay Present with Love: Mindfulness helped me fully be with Niko, finding joy in small things like the warmth of his hand in mine.

  2. Breathe Through the Fear: Deep, slow breaths helped calm my racing heart, grounding me in the present moment.

  3. Find the Silver Linings: Mindfulness revealed the silver linings—the kind nurses, Niko’s strength, the overwhelming support from friends and loved ones. These blessings kept me grounded.


The Healing Power of Hope and Presence

Together, the Law of Attraction and mindfulness became a powerful force, helping me navigate this traumatic journey. They didn’t erase the pain, but they gave me strength, hope, and peace when I needed it most.

And here’s the best part—Niko is doing great now! 🙏 After missing his entire 5th-grade year, he’s back in school, catching up with his friends and diving into his education with that same unstoppable spirit. Seeing him laugh, play, and learn again is nothing short of a miracle, and it fills me with more gratitude than I can ever express.
